Say what you will about the communists but they can build a bloody good UFO

Finally, after a camshaft was couriered from an auto salvage yard in Dorchester, UK and we are back on the road....!!!! Sadly the overheating problem is still with us - maybe we are asking too much of Bess... It was a massive day for us yesterday finally getting out of Czech, we drove 1,063km ending in Romania at the best road in the world (other than the A25 heading toward Godstone obviously). The car to experience Top Gear’s best road in the world is definitely a 2005 Suzuki that barely reaches 50... Turns out our mascot that Matt “found” at the launch party is actually a treasured possession of the hosts. It could have been difficult to get it back to them had we actually got far from the start line but since we were only 20 minutes down the road he thought he’d post it to them... So close - the engine was well on it's way to being rebuilt but the mechanics snapped the camshaft when re-installing it... Our troubles are getting worse. Where do you get a camshaft for a 2005 Suzuki Alto at 4.00pm on a Friday in the middle of the Czech Republic....? Looks like we will be here much longer.
Maybe Mad Max is not the guy to fix your car.... Major problems now - the car is overheating the whole time and we need need some serious mechanical assistance. Gasket troubles continue in the cloudy Czech Republic, we were only meant to spend a day here but we like it so much we’ve spent three and with Bess in her critical condition it looks like we’ll be here for a few more. Hope to be on the road by Friday or Saturday
Drove carefully through the night, nursing Bessie as best we could. Finally made it to Prague after 20 hours straight of driving - feels like a massive milestone daunting it’s only the start line - at an old soviet nuclear site. Crossed the start line after a kind Mad Max type guy fixed our gasket!
Had high hopes for the first day... all the doubters thought we’d break down before Dover. Joke's on them - we made it to Belgium...
The start of our journey from Oxted in the UK, heading for Folkestone and onto Prague for the official start of the Rally...
After searching the internet for a car we finally have purchased our vehicle for the rally. The Suzuki Alto 1.1l, with only 26k on the clock we're hopeful it could be a smooth ride to Mongolia. Stay tuned for pictures of our pimped vehicle. Progress on the Car01/06/18 - A full day of painting and adding mods to the car, we have our final look without the stickers. Just over a month to go, lots more to do and still lots of sponsorship to find!
